Cummins-Wagner Acquires Siewert Equipment Company
Rochester, NY – Siewert Equipment Company, a leading distributor of pumps, mixers, and fluid process equipment in the Northeast, has been acquired by Cummins-Wagner Co., Inc. This Maryland-based distributor of industrial and mechanical equipment was also a finalist for the 2008 Rochester Business Ethics Award.
About Cummins-Wagner
Cummins-Wagner operates in several states, including Maryland, Virginia, Washington, DC, Delaware, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The company provides top brands of compressors, pumps, and heat transfer equipment. As a 100% employee-owned company under an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), Cummins-Wagner distributes profits into retirement accounts for its vested employees, as regulated by the IRS and the Department of Labor.
Transitioning Leadership
Mark R. Siewert, the son of founder “Si” Siewert, previously led Siewert Equipment. The company has been headquartered in Rochester since 1949, with branches in Buffalo and Albany, as well as in Florida (Lakeland and Jacksonville). All branches will continue to operate following the acquisition. Mark Siewert will transition into a consulting role, ensuring a smooth handover of leadership. The New York branches will operate as Siewert Equipment, A Division of Cummins-Wagner-Siewert, LLC, while the Florida branches will be known as Siewert Classic, A Division of Cummins-Wagner-Siewert, LLC.
Positive Outlook for Employees
The future looks bright for the 46 employees at Siewert Equipment. Many have been with the company for over 30 years. With minimal reorganization expected, customers can look forward to the same high level of service, focusing on engineered solutions and personalized care.
A Thoughtful Transition
“In deciding to sell the company founded by my father, it was crucial for me to ensure that our employees, customers, and principal suppliers were well taken care of,” said Mark Siewert. “I’ve known the people at Cummins-Wagner for many years, and I am confident this is a good fit for everyone involved. I am also pleased our employees will have the opportunity to participate in ownership through the ESOP.”
Exciting Opportunities Ahead
Doug Ardinger, President and CEO of Cummins-Wagner, shared his enthusiasm about the merger, stating, “We believe this will be a great merger that benefits both Cummins-Wagner and Siewert employees. The Siewert name is respected in our industry, and they have a strong team in place. We’re excited about the opportunities this partnership will bring.”
